About the Author
Carla Emery spent more than 30 years living and working on a farm in Idaho. She was a wife, mother, home-schooler, goat keeper, gardener, writer, and country-living instructor.
She began writing and self-publishing The Encyclopedia of Country Living in the early 1970s and later continued expanding and promoting the book through subsequent editions. She also operated a School of Country Living and traveled extensively teaching practical country-living skills.
Carla Emery passed away in 2005, leaving behind a widely used reference for homesteading and self-reliant living.
